Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between basal and complete cell culture media?
Basal media such as DMEM or RPMI supply salts, glucose, amino acids, and vitamins, but most cell lines only proliferate once the basal formulation is completed with serum or defined supplements and, where required, glutamine and antibiotics. Always check which completion a given line expects before changing formulations.
When should a lab switch to serum-free or defined media?
When batch-to-batch variability from serum threatens reproducibility, when the application demands defined composition — stem cell culture, bioproduction, diagnostics — or when animal-component-free processes are mandated. The transition usually requires gradual adaptation of the culture over several passages.
Can Danyel Biotech supply cell culture media in Israel?
Yes — media and culture reagents are available through our distribution agreements, and this online category is still being built out. Send us the formulation you need and our team will quote the closest match from the brands we represent.
