Frequently asked questions
What is a VACUETTE Urine CCM tube?
An evacuated, sterile urine tube whose additive — per Greiner Bio-One — stabilizes bacterial counts and culture-relevant parameters for up to 48 hours at room temperature. That removes the refrigeration requirement when transport to the microbiology lab is delayed; plain (non-additive) tubes remain the choice for routine urinalysis processed promptly.
Why use evacuated urine tubes instead of pouring from a cup?
A transfer device draws urine from the beaker into the vacuum tube as a closed system: standardized fill volume, no open pouring, lower spill and exposure risk, and tubes that load straight into analyzer racks. Round-bottom formats serve automated urinalysis, while conical-bottom tubes support sediment examination after centrifugation.
How is a midstream urine sample collected correctly?
The patient passes the first portion of the void into the toilet, collects the middle portion in a sterile beaker without touching its rim, and discards the rest. Skipping the first portion reduces contamination by skin and urethral flora — most important when the sample is destined for culture.
Where can Israeli labs buy VACUETTE urine collection products?
In Israel the VACUETTE urine range — tubes, beakers, transfer devices, and 24-hour containers — is distributed by Danyel Biotech, Greiner Bio-One's official Israeli distributor, with local stock for clinical labs and HMOs and quotes turned around quickly.
