What is the difference between a rapid test and a point-of-care cartridge?
A rapid test, usually a lateral-flow cassette or strip, is read by eye or with a reader and gives a qualitative positive or negative result. A point-of-care cartridge runs inside an analyzer that measures the concentration of the marker, giving a quantitative or semi-quantitative result closer to a laboratory assay.
