Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a spheroid and an organoid?
Spheroids are simple 3D aggregates formed from one or a few cell types — fast, low-cost, and well suited to drug screening. Organoids grow from stem or progenitor cells and self-organize into structures that mimic real organ architecture. Both need a non-adhesive environment, such as cell-repellent plates, to form.
How do cell-repellent plates generate spheroids?
The CELLSTAR cell-repellent surface stops cells from attaching to the plastic, so they aggregate with each other instead and self-assemble into a spheroid in each well — no hydrogel or scaffold required. Greiner Bio-One offers the surface on plates, dishes, and flasks, which lets suspension-based 3D work scale up.
What is magnetic 3D bioprinting?
Cells are magnetized with NanoShuttle-PL nanoparticles, then gathered by mild magnetic force — a magnet drive under a cell-repellent plate prints one spheroid per well, typically within hours. The approach works across cell types and keeps spheroid size reproducible, which is why it pairs well with high-throughput screening.
Which ThinCert membrane pore size should I choose?
Use 0.4 or 1 µm pores for co-culture, barrier, transport, and secretion studies, where cells must stay on their own side of the membrane. Choose 3 or 8 µm pores for migration and invasion assays, where cells need to pass through. ThinCert inserts fit 6-, 12-, and 24-well plates, with a 96-well HTS version for automated tissue models.
Where can I buy Greiner 3D cell culture products in Israel?
As Greiner Bio-One's official Israeli distributor, Danyel Biotech keeps the 3D range — cell-repellent plates, ThinCert inserts, and magnetic 3D bioprinting kits — locally stocked with application support. Use the quote button on this page for pricing.
