This kit helps to prevent false positive results caused by carryover of amplification products. It is specifically designed for use with food and environmental samples. Supplied with the kit is the Takara Taq HS DNA polymerase, and dUTP in place of dTTP as the substrate in the dNTP mix. After hot-start PCR has been performed with this kit, reaction mixtures are treated with uracil-N-glycosylase (UNG), an enzyme that cleaves uracil-containing DNA which in turn degrades uracil-containing contaminants from a previous PCR.
