Anti-HSV-1/2 Alegria Monotest

The human pathogenic type 1 and 2 herpes simplex viruses (HSV-1 and HSV-2) infect epithelial cells of the mucous membranes: HSV-1 primarily in the head area (herpes labialis), HSV-2 in the genital and anal areas (herpes genitalis). In the acute stage, the infection causes formation of characteristic blisters. In transitioning to the latent stage, these viruses enter the sensory nerves and spinal ganglia, where they persist throughout the lifetime of the patient. They are often reactivated, causing a recurrence of symptoms.

It is always recommended to determine a woman’s HSV status during pregnancy to estimate the newborn’s risk for perinatal infection.

Detection of IgM antibodies against HSV virus is important to confirm an acute primary infection, which has been detected via PCR. Besides, IgM antibodies may also be detectable in cases of recurrent or persistent infection.

IgG antibodies against the type-specific glycoprotein G1 are formed two to three months after a primary infection with the type 1 herpes simplex virus. IgG-class antibodies against glycoprotein G2 are detectable several weeks after primary infection.

Anti-HSV-1/2 IgG (Cat. no. ORG 905G)

Anti-HSV-1/2 IgG is an ELISA-based, automated, in-vitro test system for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1/2) in human serum or plasma. It is used to determine the patient’s immune status.

The Anti-HSV-1/2 assays from ORGENTEC Diagnostika are coated with complete antigen from inactivated simplex virus types 1 and 2. This provides a variety of epitopes for effective screening for IgG antibodies against both human herpes viruses.

The type-specific Anti-HSV-1 and Anti-HSV-2 test systems from ORGENTEC Diagnostika are available for further differentiation of the antibody response.

Anti-HSV-1/2 IgM Abs. (Cat. no. ORG 905MX)

Anti-HSV-1/2 IgM with rheumatoid factor absorbent is an ELISA-based, automated, in-vitro test system for the quantitative determination of IgM antibodies against herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1/2) in human serum or plasma. A rheumatoid factor (RF) absorbent is integrated into the reagents on the test strips of the Alegria Anti-HSV-1/2 IgM with rheumatoid factor absorbent test.

The Anti-HSV-1/2-IgM ELISA test detects IgM antibodies against the herpes viruses and thus indicates acute infection.

The Anti-HSV-1/2 assays from ORGENTEC Diagnostika are coated with complete antigen from inactivated simplex virus types 1 and 2. IgM-class rheumatoid factor antibodies can distort the results of pathogen-specific IgM antibody tests. The Anti-HSV-1 Virus IgM test with rheumatoid factor absorbent is equipped with the ORGENTEC rheumatoid factor absorbent. This reagent absorbs any rheumatoid factors that may be present during sample processing in the Alegria instrument, making separate preparation of the serum sample unnecessary.
