HYDRAGEL von WILLEBRAND MULTIMERS kit is designed for the detection of abnormalities in the vWF multimers distribution related to a haemorrhagic diathesis. The test allows to assess the overall size distribution of von Willebrand factor multimers in human plasma using agarose gel electrophoresis and immunofixation, with the semi-automated HYDRASYS 2 instrument.

Test Principle
HYDRAGEL von WILLEBRAND MULTIMERS allows separating small, intermediate, and large molecular weight multimers.
The assay is carried out in two stages:
Sample pre-treatment followed by an electrophoresis done in SDS agarose gel to separate proteins according to their molecular weight,
direct immunofixation of multimers in the gel using anti-human vWF antibody followed by immunoenzyme staining to visualize the different multimers.
The semi-automated HYDRASYS 2 SCAN FOCUSING instrument performs all the steps needed to obtain gels ready for visual and densitometry-based interpretations.
