Endogenous lipid with antidepressant and anxiolytic effects
Functions
Erucamide is an endogenous fatty acid amide. It was able to ameliorate depression and anxiety-like behaviors in several mouse models. Significantly lowered levels of circulating adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) and corticosterone (CORT) suggesting a mechanism of action involving modulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis.
Application Procedures
First dissolved in DMSO (up to at least 40 mg/ml) and in water (up to at least 25 mg/ml with warming), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or distilled water may be stored at -20°C for up to 3 months.
Research use only.
