Olink

  • Sweden (part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, USA)
  • Founded 2004

Olink (part of Thermo Fisher Scientific) is a next-generation proteomics company headquartered in Uppsala, Sweden. Its technology traces back to a 2004 spin-out from Uppsala University research by Professor Ulf Landegren, reorganised in 2016 into Olink Proteomics AB to focus on the Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) platform; Thermo Fisher Scientific completed its acquisition of Olink in 2024. PEA uses pairs of antibodies labelled with unique DNA oligonucleotides that bind a target protein in solution — bringing the oligos into proximity so they hybridize and are extended by DNA polymerase, generating a protein-specific DNA barcode read out by qPCR or next-generation sequencing. This combines the specificity of antibody-based immunoassays with the precision and scalability of PCR, enabling highly multiplexed, high-throughput protein biomarker measurement from as little as 1–2 µL of plasma, serum or other biological sample. Olink's platforms (Explore, Reveal, Target, Flex and Focus) can measure over 5,400 proteins simultaneously and have supported more than 4,000 peer-reviewed publications and some of the world's largest population-scale proteomics studies.

Danyel Biotech represents Olink's proteomics (PEA) platforms in Israel, providing local sales, technical service and application support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who represents Olink in Israel?

Danyel Biotech represents Olink's proteomics platforms in Israel, providing local sales, technical service and application support.

What is Olink's PEA technology?

Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) pairs antibody specificity with a DNA/PCR readout: matched antibody probes labelled with unique DNA oligos bind a target protein, and only when they are in close proximity do the oligos hybridize and extend, producing a protein-specific DNA barcode that is quantified by qPCR or sequencing — enabling highly multiplexed, high-throughput protein biomarker measurement from very small sample volumes.
