ASKION GmbH is a German biobanking-technology company headquartered in Gera, Thuringia. Founded in 2005 through a management buyout from Agfa-Gevaert, ASKION established its cryotechnology business unit in 2009 around the ASKION C-line® — a modular, scalable and fully automatable system for cryo- and biobanks that covers controlled-rate freezing (WB220), hermetic liquid-nitrogen-vapour sample storage down to −185 °C (HS200 S/M/L and HS200A), sample identification, transfer tools and documentation software. C-line installations scale from a few thousand to millions of samples, keep samples below −130 °C during automated handling and scanning, and provide complete traceability of every freezing, storage and retrieval step. ASKION is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 and supports biobanks working to the ISO 20387 biobanking standard.
