Frequently asked questions
Can cryovials be stored in liquid nitrogen?
In the gas phase only. Greiner's Cryo.s tubes are rated from -196 °C to +37 °C, but must not be immersed in the liquid phase — nitrogen that seeps into a tube expands violently on thawing. Store them in a freezer or suspended above the liquid level in LN2 tanks.
Internal or external thread cryovials — which should I pick?
Both are available across the Cryo.s range (1 to 5 ml, with round, conical, skirted, and starfoot bases and colored caps), so the choice is mostly ergonomic and rack-driven. External-thread caps keep the thread outside the tube body, while internal-thread tubes present a slimmer outer profile; confirm compatibility with your storage boxes and any automated handling first.
What does "free of RNase, DNase, and human DNA" mean for tubes?
It means each lot is certified to contain no detectable nucleases or human DNA that could degrade RNA or DNA samples or seed false PCR signals. CELLSTAR 15 ml and 50 ml conical tubes carry this certification and are non-pyrogenic, making them safe for molecular and cell-based work.
What are 2D-coded biobank tubes?
They are small-volume tubes — Cryo.s Biobank tubes come in 300, 600, and 1000 µl — with a DataMatrix code on the base that rack scanners read in seconds. That enables error-free automated sample tracking in large biorepositories, where handwritten or side labels fail at scale.
What is the difference between reaction tubes and analyser cups?
Reaction tubes (0.5 to 5 ml) are polypropylene, giving high chemical and temperature resistance for sample prep and molecular protocols. Analyser cups are highly transparent polystyrene, shaped to fit clinical chemistry analysers such as Hitachi and Coulter systems.
Where can I get Cryo.s cryovials in Israel?
Cryo.s tubes, 2D-coded biobank formats, and CELLSTAR conicals ship from local stock in Israel through Danyel Biotech, Greiner Bio-One's official distributor here — with help matching tube formats to your freezers and racking.
