Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between sandwich, competitive, and indirect ELISA?

Sandwich ELISA captures the analyte between two antibodies against different epitopes — signal rises with concentration, and it handles complex samples like lysates and supernatants well. Competitive ELISA suits small molecules with a single epitope; signal falls as analyte rises. Indirect ELISA detects antibodies in a sample, as in serology, using a labeled secondary antibody.

What is a one-step "Fast" ELISA?

TriBioScience's Fast ELISA kits combine the sample and detection incubations into a single step, cutting a typical run from five or six hours to about two by the manufacturer's protocol. The readout stays plate-based — colorimetric or fluorometric — so no special instrumentation is needed beyond a standard reader.

Which sample types can I run in an ELISA?

Serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, and tissue or cell lysates are all routine for sandwich formats; the kit datasheet lists validated matrices and recommended dilutions. Matrix effects are real — run a spike-and-recovery check when working with a sample type the kit was not validated for.

Can I use a human ELISA kit to measure the mouse version of my target?

Only if the datasheet shows validated cross-reactivity — sequence homology alone is not enough, and most kits are species-specific by design. TriBioScience offers dedicated mouse kits for many targets, and a custom ELISA development service when no catalog kit fits.

Who supplies ELISA kits to laboratories in Israel?

Israeli researchers order TriBioScience ELISA and immunoassay kits through Danyel Biotech; quotes are answered locally, and our team can also route custom assay-development requests to the manufacturer.

Buying Guide

Choose by target, species, and sample matrix first, then check the quantification range against the concentrations you expect — dilution can bring a sample into range, but not below the kit's sensitivity floor. Pick format last: classic sandwich kits for maximum validation history, Fast ELISA when turnaround matters, fluorometric readouts when your reader supports them.
