Tissue-culture treatment modifies the polystyrene surface to make it hydrophilic and negatively charged, so attachment proteins adsorb and cells can spread. Untreated polystyrene stays hydrophobic and suits suspension work. Greiner Bio-One additionally offers an Advanced TC surface variant for more demanding applications.

T-25 for cloning and small-scale maintenance, T-75 as the general workhorse, T-175 when harvesting larger cell numbers. A practical rule: match total surface area to your weekly cell demand rather than splitting one line across many small flasks — fewer vessels means fewer contamination openings.

Filter caps carry a hydrophobic membrane that permits sterile gas exchange in a CO₂ incubator while staying closed to contaminants — the default for open incubator culture. Non-vented screw caps suit transport, closed handling, and media storage. CELLSTAR flasks come in both configurations.
