Frequently asked questions
Should I choose a monoclonal or polyclonal antibody?
Monoclonals bind a single epitope, giving high specificity and lot-to-lot consistency — the safe choice for long-term projects and quantitative assays. Polyclonals recognize several epitopes on the same antigen, which usually makes them more sensitive and more tolerant of partial epitope masking or denaturation. Many labs screen with a polyclonal and switch to a monoclonal once the target is confirmed.
What does "in vivo grade" antibody mean?
In vivo grade antibodies are purified and formulated for injection into animals: endotoxin below 1 EU/mg, carrier-free and azide-free buffers, and validated functional activity for depletion, blocking, or agonist studies. TriBioScience produces its in vivo antibodies recombinantly for batch-to-batch consistency, including biosimilar clones for drug-mechanism work.
Why do I need an anti-GFP antibody if GFP is already fluorescent?
Fluorescence is lost when samples are denatured for SDS-PAGE, so confirming expression of a GFP fusion on a Western blot — or pulling it down by immunoprecipitation — requires an antibody. Takara's Living Colors antibodies detect GFP, EGFP, AcGFP1, and ZsGreen1, with separate clones for red proteins such as mCherry, DsRed, and tdTomato.
How do I know an antibody will work in my application?
Check the validated-applications list on the datasheet — Western blot, ELISA, IHC, ICC, and flow cytometry each present the antigen differently, and performance in one does not guarantee another. Species reactivity, clonality, and the immunogen sequence are the other three fields worth reading before ordering.
Where can I buy research antibodies in Israel?
The TriBioScience antibody catalog and Takara Bio's tag-specific and fluorescent-protein antibodies are available in Israel through Danyel Biotech — local stock, technical help with clone selection, and quick quotes from the product page.
