In particular, anti-C1q antibodies have been found in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and patients with hypocomplementemic urticarial vasculitis syndrome (HUVS).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFor SLE patients there exists an unambiguous correlation between antibody titer, disease progression and kidney involvement. SLE patients with an increasing anti-C1q titer were observed to have an approximately 50 % higher risk of developing lupus nephritis. C1q antibodies often appear a few weeks, sometimes as much as half a year before onset of nephritis.
