Sensitive species include Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, Candida glabrata, Aspergillus nidulans and A. niger. AbA inhibits a yeast enzyme, inositol phosphorylceramide (IPC) synthase, which is expressed from the AUR1 gene.
